Excerpts from A Book of Life

Uno

We Tried To Live Simply
We tried to live simply. We tried to raise as much of our own food as we could. I had a “solar dryer”, meaning I hung the clothes on a line outside. I kept thinking about moving back to the city.

The Canon and the Lake
The music of Pachelbel’s Canon was playing, and the lights surrounding the lake were changing colors according to the music. The entire scene and atmosphere were almost magical. There were waterfowl swimming in the lake – a variety of ducks, geese, and swans. They would occasionally give a call, but for the most part, they glided silently through the water with the colored light reflecting off them.
